Pearl is 60-32 with Panthers
MILWAUKEE -- Wisconsin-Milwaukee men's basketball coach Bruce Pearl has signed a five-year contract through the 2008-09 season, the school announced Wednesday.
Terms were not disclosed.
Pearl is 60-32 in three seasons with the Panthers, leading them to the Horizon League Tournament title and an NCAA Tournament berth in 2003 and the conference's regular-season crown last season.
Prior to joining the Panthers in April 2001, Pearl coached nine years at the University of Southern Indiana.
"This new contract is an excellent indication of the committment UWM has made to its athletic department and to the men's basketball program," Pearl said. "It's also a demonstration to the community, as well as our players and prospects, that I am committed to UWM."
"Bruce is a keeper," Panthers athletic director Bud Haidet said. "He has been extremely successful both on and off the court and it is nice that we were able to identify some revenue sources to help make his contract even more attractive."
