Pikiell leaves George Washington's staff
Stony Brook will announce the hiring of George Washington assistant coach Steve Pikiell as its new men's basketball coach.
The official announcement will be made during a Wednesday news conference, a source close to the search committee told ESPN.com's Andy Katz.
Pikiell, who played at Connecticut in the 1980s, has worked on the staffs at UConn and Central Connecticut State. Pikiell, who played for Jim Calhoun at UConn, was an assistant on coach Karl Hobbs' staff at GW.
Before joining the Colonials, Pikiell was on former UConn assistant Howie Dickenman's staff at Central Connecticut.
