HAMMOND, La. -- Billy Kennedy, who coached Southeastern Louisiana to the school's first NCAA Tournament berth, resigned Thursday to become an associate head coach at Miami.

The Lions finished 24-9 last season, losing to Oklahoma State 63-50 in the opening round of the national tournament.

In six seasons at Southeastern Louisiana, Kennedy was 80-94, but was 44-18 over his last two seasons.

Kennedy joins a staff at Miami led by second-year head coach Frank Haith. Miami finished 16-13 last year.
