All-SEC guard not going to Worlds in Argentina
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Razorback guard Ronnie Brewer, a first-team all-Southeastern Conference selection last season, won't be representing the United States in the Under-21 World Championship tournament.
Brewer, who will be a junior at Arkansas in the fall, participated this week in the first two rounds of the Global Games at Frisco, Texas, after surviving the first round of cuts. But his name wasn't on the 12-man roster released Thursday of those selected to compete next month in the world championship tournament at Mar del Plata, Argentina.
Arkansas coach Stan Heath said Brewer was disappointed.
"I attended two of the practices along with his father, and we were very impressed with the way he played," Heath said.
In Wednesday's 119-64 victory by the U.S. team over Ukraine, Brewer saw 12 minutes of action, finishing with 8 points, two rebounds, two steals and an assist.
