Sooners now 15th after loss to WVU
It had to happen, Sooner or later.
After a 24-point loss to West Virginia in Oklahoma City -- its second high-profile defeat of the season -- former No. 8 Oklahoma plunged seven spots to 15th in the latest ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll. The Sooners were the only big change in a top 10 that remained almost the same from last week.
Duke remained comfortably at No. 1, receiving all but one of the 31 available first-place votes. Connecticut (one first-place vote), off a 68-point thrashing of Morehead State, remains second, with Villanova, Memphis, Florida, Illinois and Washington following in the same order as last week. Gonzaga bumped up one slot to No. 8 while Michigan State moved back into the top 10, leaping over Louisville to take over No. 9.
North Carolina, on the heels of a 15-point loss at USC, dropped from 19th to 25th. There were no newcomers to the poll this week.
