Temple G Collins, hurt by fall, released from hospital
PHILADELPHIA -- Temple guard Mardy Collins was released from the hospital Wednesday, a day after he was wheeled off the floor in a neck brace in the closing seconds of the Owls' 80-73 overtime loss to Akron in the opening round of the NIT.
Collins was face down for several minutes after he crashed to the floor on a driving layup attempt with about 30 seconds to go. Medical personnel tended to him for about 20 minutes before he was fitted for the brace and taken to Temple University Hospital.
Doctors determined that his neck injury wasn't severe, school officials said. All tests were negative.
Collins led the Owls in scoring this season, averaging 16.6 points a game.
