Pecora signs new five-year deal to stay at Hofstra
Hofstra head coach Tom Pecora signed a new five-year contract to remain at the school, thus eliminating him as the potential favorite to land the Seton Hall job, the school announced Tuesday.
The new deal will keep Pecora at the school through the 2010-11 season
Hofstra was 26-7 overall, 14-4 in the Colonial Athletic Association, losing to UNC Wilmington in the final. Hofstra beat Final Four team George Mason twice, once in the regular season and other time in the CAA semifinal.
Hofstra lost to CAA member Old Dominion in the NIT quartefinals. Hofstra won its first two Division I postseason games to get to the third round.
Seton Hall will turn its attention elsewhere with Iona coach Jeff Ruland working hard to land the gig. Manhattan's Bobby Gonzalez, Davidson's Bob McKillop could also be in the mix.
