CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Southeast Missouri State hired Tennessee assistant Scott Edgar as head coach Thursday.

Before working at Tennessee, Edgar was an assistant at Alabama-Birmingham and head coach at Duquesne and Murray State.

Edgar replaces Redhawks coach Gary Garner, whose contract wasn't renewed last month after nine seasons. Last season, the Redhawks finished 7-20 and 4-16 in the Ohio Valley Conference.
