First-year Oklahoma coach Jeff Capel is expected to name South Carolina State head coach Ben Betts Jr. and former Ole Miss coach Rod Barnes as his assistants, multiple sources confirmed to ESPN.com's Andy Katz on Thursday.

Ole Miss decided not to bring back Barnes after eight seasons , in which he led the Rebels to four postseason appearances and the 2001 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16. His teams posted a record of 141-107 (50-77 SEC), including a school-record 27 wins and No. 9 end-of season national ranking in 2001. But Ole Miss did not reach postseason play his last four seasons in Oxford.

Betts was head coach at South Carolina State for two seasons, going 18-11 in 2004-05 and 10-15 in 2005-06. He also worked as an assistant under Capel at Virginia Commonwealth, and as an assistant at South Carolina State and College of Charleston.
