Arkansas State guard suspended for 14 games
JONESBORO, Ark. -- Arkansas State suspended guard Jim Jones from its basketball team Friday for 14 games, citing an unspecified violation of team rules.
"Jim made a mistake, and hopefully this will be a lesson to not only him but all of our players as well," said coach Dickey Nutt. "He will continue to be with us, but will not be able to play in a game until the conference season starts."
Jones started every game last season and averaged 12.4 points, third-highest on the Sun Belt Conference team. Sports Information Director Jerry Scott said the team would have no further comment.
