CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Southern Illinois University basketball standout Jamaal Tatum will sit out the first three games of the coming season for violating team rules.

The Salukis announced the suspension of the team's leading scorer from last year's NCAA Tournament team late last week.

A news release announcing the disciplinary action didn't specify what team rules Tatum broke but noted the player was cited for drunken driving during a traffic stop last March.

He'll return for the Murray State game Nov. 19.

SIU coach Chris Lowery also said reserve forwards Tony Boyle and Jamaal Foster each will serve one-game suspensions for violating team rules during unrelated incidents.
