Buckeyes reward hoops coach Matta with extension
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio State men's basketball coach Thad Matta, who led his team to the Big Ten regular-season title last season, has agreed to a contract extension.
No details were released and the agreement will not become official until it is approved by the board of trustees, university spokesman Steve Snapp said Sunday.
Matta, who is entering his third year, has an eight-year deal worth more than $11 million. The Buckeyes went 26-6 last season and received a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament.
His overall record at Ohio State is 46-18. He previously coached at Xavier and Butler.
