Winona St. sets D-II record with 53rd straight win
WINONA, Minn. -- Winona State set an NCAA Division II record by winning its 53rd consecutive game, a 100-73 victory over St. Cloud State in a North Central region quarterfinal Saturday night.

The Warriors (31-0) advance to Sunday's semifinals of the regional tournament, and will face Nebraska-Kearney, which beat South Dakota 95-88 in Saturday night's other game.
Winona State, the defending NCAA champion, broke the record set by Langston University of Oklahoma, which won 52 games in a row from 1943-46, a mark the Warriors tied last Sunday, when they won the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference tournament.
Zach Malvik led the Warriors with 30 points, while John Smith added 16 points, Jonte Flowers had 15 and David Johnson 10.
David Dreas, a graduate of Winona Senior High School, led St. Cloud State (19-11) with 19 points, while Adam Sullivan scored 13 and Matt Schneck had 11.
