UMKC fires Zvosec after 12-20 season
KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- University of Missouri-Kansas City fired men's basketball coach Rich Zvosec on Tuesday after a 12-20 season.
Zvosec compiled an 84-91 record in six years and had one year left on his contract, which was extended last summer.
"In our continuing commitment to a strong and successful athletic program, we will begin an immediate and deliberate search for the next head coach," athletic director Tim Hall said in a news release.
Hall and men's soccer coach Rick Benben will oversee the program in the meantime.
Zvosec began as an assistant coach for the Kangaroos in 2000. He took over in 2001, after Dean Demopoulos left to become an assistant for the Seattle SuperSonics.
