Richard finishes with 150 wins as Bulldogs coach
RUSTON, La. -- Louisiana Tech announced Tuesday that it will not renew the contract of men's basketball coach Keith Richard.
"I am proud of my body of work over the whole nine years as head coach," Richard said. "I look forward to the future and wish everyone the best."
Richard compiled a record of 150 wins and 117 losses in his nine years as head coach and led the Bulldogs to the 1999 Sun Belt Conference regular-season championship. In the 2006-07 season the Bulldogs finished 10-20 and lost in the first round of the Western Athletic Conference tournament.
"This was a tough decision because of the way Keith Richard has poured his heart and soul into the program," athletic director Jim Oakes said. "Unfortunately, a change in direction is needed for the program. Keith Richard is an outstanding basketball coach."
Richard first joined the Louisiana Tech staff as an assistant in 1994.
