Akron's Dambrot agrees to seven-year contract
AKRON, Ohio -- Akron basketball coach Keith Dambrot agreed in principle to a seven-year contract Friday.
The deal keeps Dambrot at Akron through the 2014 season and makes him among the top-paid coaches in the Mid-American Conference.
Dambrot's team tied a school record for wins last season with 26 but was snubbed by the postseason tournaments.
The Zips lost the MAC tournament championship to Miami on a buzzer beating 3-pointer, losing out on an automatic NCAA tournament bid. It was their first appearance in the MAC title game.
Dambrot has a 68-27 record and a 38-14 conference record in three seasons with the Zips.
