Forward McClure has surgery on right knee
DURHAM, N.C. -- Duke junior forward David McClure will be out six to eight weeks following surgery Tuesday on his aching right knee.
McClure will be sidelined during a time when players generally take part in offseason conditioning. The operation will give McClure "a chance to start the season at 100 percent," Blue Devils coach Mike Krzyzewski said.
"He is a tough young man and we anticipate that he will be ready to go when practice starts in October," Krzyzewski said.
During his sophomore season, McClure averaged 4.2 points and 4.9 rebounds in just over 21 minutes per game. He shot 49.1 percent (54-of-110) from the floor and finished tied for second on the team with 39 steals.
McClure missed seven games as a freshman and was sidelined the entire 2005-06 season while recovering from offseason surgery on his left knee.
