TOLEDO, Ohio -- The University of Toledo has called a press conference for Monday to announce that the school has fired basketball coach Stan Joplin.
The Rockets finished the season 11-19, ending with a 77-57 loss to NCAA tournament-bound Kent State in the Mid-American Conference quarterfinals on Thursday.
A year ago, Joplin was named the MAC's Coach of the Year -- the first time in 27 years a coach from Toledo received the honor.
Joplin coached the Rockets for 12 years. He signed a three-year extension in 2006 that was to have taken him through the 2008-09 season.
