And then there was one.
That leaves new coach Tom Crean with only one returning scholarship player from last season's NCAA tournament team: seldom-used senior forward Kyle Taber. Freshman walk-on Brett Finkelmeier is also on the team.
"Jordan Crawford and his family informed us today that he will not return to Indiana University," Crean said through a university statement.
The 6-foot-4 Crawford started eight games last season and averaged 9.7 points and 3.4 rebounds for the Hoosiers
Heralded freshman Eric Gordon declared for the NBA draft and signed with an agent. Senior D.J. White is also gone. The defections have been numerous with Armon Bassett, DeAndre Thomas, Jamarcus Ellis and A.J. Ratliff all asked to leave, too. Eli Holman transferred to Detroit.
Crean did bring in a number of newcomers, including one-time Marquette signee Nick Williams, and has Georgetown guard Jeremiah Rivers, who is sitting out next season, available for 2009-10.
Indiana's NCAA hearing on its major NCAA rules violations committed under former coach Kelvin Sampson is Friday in Seattle.
