PRINCETON, N.J. -- Harvard University and head basketball coach Tommy Amaker have been cleared by the Ivy League of improper recruiting activity during the spring and summer of 2007.

A New York Times story in March said that Kenny Blakeney, the top assistant on Amaker's staff, reportedly visited two recruits when in-person contact is not allowed. Blakeney was announced as a Harvard assistant coach on July 2, 2007.

Blakeney was mentioned along with Amaker and Harvard as being cleared in a news release distributed by the Ivy League.

Both Amaker and Blakeney "were completely forthcoming in their participation in this inquiry, and interviews with others who were involved, as well as a thorough examination of relevant records, corroborated that the coaches' contacts with prospective student-athletes and their families were entirely consistent with NCAA and Ivy League rules," according to the Ivy League news release.
