Singletary to miss MAC opener

CLEVELAND -- Kent State guard Chris Singletary has been suspended for Tuesday's opening round Mid-American Conference tournament game against Northern Illinois for punching an Akron player Sunday.
Singletary was ejected from Sunday's game for punching Akron's Nate Linhart in the stomach 1:08 into the contest. Singletary also was assessed a flagrant personal foul.
Kent State athletic director Laing Kennedy and coach Geno Ford decided to suspend Singletary after reviewing the play.
Singletary, a junior, averages 12.1 points and 4.2 rebounds a game.
