Minnesota (No. 25 ESPN/USA Today, No. 18 AP) will start the season without forward Royce White and guard Devron Bostick.

Following the Gophers' 98-49 exhibition victory over Minnesota State on Monday, coach Tubby Smith said Bostick and White, who were suspended indefinitely last week, will not play in the regular season opener on Friday night against Tennessee Tech.

"It could be two games. It could be five, six. It could be more," Smith said at the time of the suspension. "It could be 20. It depends on what I want, what I decide."

White was suspended for his arrest at the Mall of America on charges of theft and fifth-degree assault while Bostick was banned for an unspecified violation of team rules.

The Gophers are also without forward Trevor Mbakwe. Mbakwe has a court date in December on charges of felony aggravated battery in Miami and cannot play until those legal matters are resolved.
