X-rays negative on Lucas' ankle
X-rays were negative on Michigan State guard Kalin Lucas, the school announced on Wednesday.
Lucas sprained his ankle in the second half of No. 5 Michigan State's 67-49 loss to No. 16 Wisconsin on Tuesday night in Madison. He is day to day with his status for Saturday's game at Illinois uncertain.
The school says Lucas's status for Saturday's game will depend on how the ankle responds to treatment, and that won't be known until at least Thursday.
Lucas, last season's Big Ten player of the year, went up for a jump shot with just under 11 minutes to play and landed on the left foot of Wisconsin forward Keaton Nankivil.
"I went to move to shoot the ball, came down on his foot and my ankle just rolled over," Lucas said Tuesday after the game.
Lucas is averaging 16 points a game this season.
