LAWRENCE, Kan. -- The University of Kansas says Ben Kirtland has resigned as associate athletic director.

The school announced the resignation Monday without giving a reason.

Kansas is undergoing an independent investigation of possible wrongdoing in the ticket office and the Williams Educational Fund, the money-raising arm of the athletic department.

Rodney Jones, an associate athletic director who headed the Williams Fund, was placed on administrative leave last month.

Department spokesman Jim Marchiony declined to comment Monday when asked if Kirtland's resignation was related to the ongoing investigation.
