Jones to coach at BC
Joe Jones, who led the Columbia men's basketball program for the last seven years, has been hired to be associate head coach at Boston College alongside Steve Donahue, according to Columbia University.
Boston College has not yet released an announcement on the hiring. Just Wednesday, Donahue was introduced as the Eagles new head coach, replacing longtime coach Al Skinner.
"I am truly grateful for my time here at Columbia. I loved it here," Jones said.
It is unknown just what Jones' responsibilities as "associate head coach" will be.
Rumors had been circulating recently after ESPN.com's Andy Katz reported that Donahue, the former coach at Cornell, had contacted coaches about joining his staff with the Eagles, including at least one other Ivy League head coach. Jones had an 86-108 overall record at Columbia and a 39-59 record in the Ivy League.
