Crowder signs letter to play at Marquette

MILWAUKEE -- Marquette has signed junior college player of the year Jae Crowder to a national letter of intent.

Coach Buzz Williams made the announcement Wednesday, saying Crowder will fill a hole left by the graduation of forward Lazar Hayward. He led Marquette last season with 18.1 points per game.

The 6-foot-6, 215-pound Crowder will have two years of eligibility with the Golden Eagles.

Crowder averaged 18.9 points to earn 2009-10 NJCAA Division I player of the year honors and help Howard College win its first title in men's basketball.

Previously, Crowder played at South Georgia Tech Junior College and was a prep star in Villa Rica, Ga.
