Colorado hires Rodney Billups

BOULDER, Colo. -- New Colorado men's basketball coach Tad Boyle has brought Rodney Billups on board as director of basketball operations.

Billups is the younger brother of Denver Nuggets All-Star guard Chauncey Billups, who was a standout with the Buffaloes from 1995-97.

Rodney Billups played at the University of Denver, ranking fourth all-time in assists (418) and steals (154). He earned his business management degree in 2005.

Boyle was hired in April to replace Jeff Bzdelik, who bolted for Wake Forest after three seasons with Colorado.

In a release Monday, Boyle said that Billups is a "bright, young coach" and has an opportunity "to learn from the ground up with this staff."
