Marshall joins Colonials coaching staff

WASHINGTON -- Longtime NBA forward Donyell Marshall is joining George Washington as an assistant coach.

The school announced Thursday that Marshall will replace Brian Ellerbe, who resigned to become an assistant coach at DePaul.

Marshall was the fourth pick in the 1994 draft by Minnesota and played for eight teams in 15 years before retiring in summer 2009.

The job reunites Marshall with coach Karl Hobbs, who was an assistant coach at Connecticut when Marshall played with the Huskies in the early 1990s.

Hobbs says Marshall's relationships with AAU programs and coaches will help in recruiting.
