CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Frank Haith's job security has been a hot topic at Miami in recent weeks.

Mike Krzyzewski doesn't see why that's the case.

After No. 5 Duke topped Miami 81-71 on Sunday night, Krzyzewski began his postgame remarks with an array of compliments for the job Haith has done with the Hurricanes, even calling his work "remarkable."

When you face that adversity is when you find out if a guy is a good coach. And you also find out if the kids that you have, have character. And the Miami team is playing well and they have a lot of character.

"I think they're very good and I think he's done as good a job as anybody in the league," Krzyzewski said.

Miami fell to 15-10 overall, 4-7 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Hurricanes need to win four of their final five conference games to finish .500 in league play.

Next up for Miami is a nonconference game at North Carolina-Greensboro -- in the arena that will host the ACC tournament next month.

"As long as you've got games on your schedule, you've got opportunities," Haith said after Sunday's game.

Miami had won three straight before Sunday, those victories coming by a combined four points, as the Hurricanes have endured a stretch of games unlike any other in ACC history. Entering Sunday, Miami's last eight games had been decided by a total of 17 points -- believed to be a league record.

Included in that stretch was a run of four consecutive losses by a combined 11 points, all of them games in which Miami had a chance to win in the final moments.

"When you face that adversity is when you find out if a guy is a good coach," Krzyzewski said. "And you also find out if the kids that you have, have character. And the Miami team is playing well and they have a lot of character."

Krzyzewski appeared in the postgame interview area after Haith did. It wasn't clear if Haith was made aware of Krzyzewski's comments before leaving the arena.

Haith is 123-96 in parts of seven seasons at Miami. He has two full seasons remaining on his contract.

"I think Frank's done a remarkable job with his team," Krzyzewski said. "They lost all those close games and they could have gone right down the drain. And instead, he's resurrected them to win a number in a row and put himself in a position to win this game."
