La. Tech hires Michael White as coach

Louisiana Tech has hired Mississippi assistant Michael White as its next head coach, Louisiana Tech athletics director Bruce Van De Velde confirmed to ESPN.com Tuesday.
Louisiana Tech has scheduled a Wednesday press conference in Ruston, La.
White will replace Kerry Rupp, who was fired last week. Rupp had a 57-69 record, including 20-42 in the Western Athletic Conference, over four seasons since his hiring in April 2007.
White, the son of Duke athletic director Kevin White, grew up in New Orleans and played point guard at Ole Miss. White has been an assistant with the Rebels for the past seven seasons.
