Larry Brown in contact with UNLV
Brown, 70, was fired by the Bobcats in December but said in January that he'd like to coach again.
"I don't want to end the way this one ended," Brown said.
UNLV released a statement Friday that interviews were complete. Multiple sources told ESPN.com's Andy Katz they expect the choice to be between two former Jerry Tarkanian players -- Dave Rice and Reggie Theus, and that a decision would come Sunday afternoon.
School president Neal Smatresk told the Las Vegas Review-Journal he didn't know Brown was a candidate.
"That's the first I've heard of it," Smatresk told the newspaper Saturday. "We just interviewed four people, and I'm unaware that any names have been added to the list."
St. John's assistant Mike Dunlap and former Oregon coach Ernie Kent were the other two official interviews, the sources told ESPN.com.
Brown is the only coach to win NBA and NCAA titles but hasn't coached in college since 1988. He led Kansas to the national championship that year but the school was hit with recruiting violations related to his tenure the following season.
Lon Kruger left UNLV to take over as Oklahoma coach April 1.
