LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- No. 18 Kansas plays its final home
game on Wednesday and tries to avenge an embarrassing loss when
it hosts Nebraska in a Big 12 Conference contest.
Kansas (18-7, 10-4) has won three of its last four games after a
dismal 74-55 loss at Nebraska on February 15.
John Turek,
Andrew Drevo and
Nate Johnson scored 14 points apiece as the
Cornhuskers ended their nine-game skid in the series.
Wayne Simien added 17 points and 12 rebounds to lead Kansas,
which played without forward
Jeff Graves. The 6-9 Graves, who
was suspended earlier this season, was left home since coach
Bill Self felt he was not able to contribute.
Wednesday's game marks the final home game for Graves, Bryant
Nash and seldom-used
Brett Olson. Graves is set to start
because of senior day, but he will be needed since freshman
center
David Padgett is listed as doubtful with a sprained right
ankle. The Jayhawks are 7-0 at home in conference play this
season and enter with a 26-game winning streak in Big 12 play.
Nebraska (16-9, 6-8) is 2-6 on the road, but has won five of its
last seven games overall.
Jackson Vroman collected 22 points
and 11 rebounds as the Cornhuskers posted a 68-65 victory over
Iowa State on Saturday.
The Cornhuskers are 2-3 vs. ranked opponents, but two of the
losses have been by exactly two points and the other was an
overtime defeat to first-place Oklahoma State.
