TALLAHASSEE, Florida (Ticker) -- After a thrilling victory,
Florida State hopes to have an easier time when it hosts Iowa
State on Tuesday in a National Invitation Tournament
second-round matchup.
On Wednesday, the Seminoles (19-13) outlasted Wichita State on
the road in double overtime, 91-84, after rallying from a
14-point second-half deficit.
Nate Johnson buried a 3-pointer to start the second overtime and
Andrew Wilson made four free throws in the final 15.1 seconds
for Florida State, which was making its first postseason
appearance in six years.
The Seminoles had lost five straight and seven of their previous
nine games and trailed by 10 points with 4 1/2 minutes left in
regulation.
Iowa State (18-12) beat Georgia at home in its first-round
contest on Wednesday, 82-74, as
Curtis Stinson scored 15 of his
21 in the second half without missing a shot.
Jackson Vroman scored 23 points on 7-of-9 shooting for the
Cyclones, who shot a sizzling 81 percent (17-of-21) in the
second half and 74 percent overall (29-of-39).
The Seminoles won the teams' only previous encounter, 109-86, in
the second round of the Preseason NIT on November 20, 1992.
