STILLWATER, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- With a difficult road test on the horizon, No. 7 Oklahoma State will look to remain unbeaten and extend its home winning streak to 21 games when it hosts Washington State on Saturday.

The Cowboys travel to Madison Square Garden on Tuesday to play No. 5 Syracuse in the Jimmy V Classic.

On the road Monday night, Oklahoma State kept its record perfect with a 76-57 victory over SMU. The Cowboys had been slow starters before that game but have been able to dominate opponents in the second half.

Against the Mustangs, however, the dynamic duo of Joey Graham and John Lucas combined for 21 points in the first half, with Lucas sparking a 17-4 run late in the first with 11 points.

The surge gave Oklahoma State control of the game en route to career win No. 759 for coach Eddie Sutton, tying him with Ed Diddle for eighth on the all-time Division I list.

The Cowboys will try to get Sutton into seventh place Saturday against a Cougars team that narrowly survived an ugly affair with Idaho on Tuesday.

Washington State needed a dunk by Jeff Varem with 1.2 seconds left to escape with a 37-36 victory.

In a pathetic shooting display, the teams combined to shoot just over 25 percent (25-of-99) from the floor and 12 percent (3-of-25) from 3-point range. The clubs combined for just 35 points in the second half.

Still, the Cougars are off to their best start since 1996, holding opponents to an average of 45.5 points per game. Guard Thomas Kelati leads a balanced attack with an 11.8 scoring average. No other player is averaging double figures, but seven score five points or more.

This will be the first-ever meeting between the schools.
