LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (Ticker) -- Francisco Garcia looks to lead
No. 12 Louisville to its sixth straight victory Wednesday when
it faces struggling Marquette in a Conference USA matchup.
Garcia scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds Saturday as
Louisville extended its winning streak to five games with an
85-62 victory over Tennessee. The Cardinals trailed by three points in the second half, but
took control with a 24-2 run to ensure their 71st win in their
last 74 contests when scoring 80 or more points.Louisville's leading scorer, Garcia had seven points, two
assists and two rebounds to highlight the spurt. In his
previous two games, Garcia had averaged just eight points on
21 percent (5-of-24) shooting.Marquette has lost three of its last four after opening the
season 13-1.The Golden Eagles rose to No. 25 in the national rankings last
week but failed to record a victory in two conference games vs.
DePaul and Charlotte.Travis Diener scored 15 points and Dameon Mason added 14, but
Marquette was not able to rally from a nine-point halftime
deficit. It was the fifth straight game in which the Eagles were
outscored in the opening 20 minutes.Marquette swept both contests last season and has had surprising
success playing at Louisville. The Cardinals have lost just
eight times at Freedom Hall since the 2001-02 season, but the
Eagles have posted victories in their last three visits.
