LAWRENCE, Kansas (Ticker) -- No. 7 Kansas will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Phog Allen Fieldhouse when it hosts rival Kansas State in a Big 12 Conference game on Wednesday.

Named for the Hall of Fame coach who won 590 games in 39 seasons at Kansas, the facility opened on March 1, 1955, when the Jayhawks defeated Kansas State, 77-67.

Kansas is 564-102 at the Phog Allen Fieldhouse.

Kansas has dominated the series, winning the last 29 meetings. The latest was a 74-65 victory at Kansas State on February 9, giving coach Bill Self his 250th victory.

The Jayhawks lead the series, 167-88, and have not lost to the Wildcats since January 17, 1994.

The Jayhawks ended a three-game losing streak, their longest in 11 years, with an 81-79 win over Oklahoma State on Sunday.

Wayne Simien scored 32 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and set a school-record by extended his streak of made free throws to 34 in a row for Kansas, which leads Oklahoma by one-half game in the battle for first place in the conference standings.

After a six-game losing streak, Kansas State has won its last two contests, including an 84-82 victory over Colorado on Saturday.

Jeremiah Massey scored 28 points and grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds and Lance Harris added a career-high 20 points for the Wildcats, who are in the hunt for a spot in the National Invitational Tournament.
