RIVERSIDE, California (Ticker) -- Riding the second-longest
winning streak in the nation, No. 17 Pacific attempts to
maintain its unblemished record in the Big West Conference on
Saturday, when its closes out the regular season at
California-Riverside.
With a victory Saturday, the Tigers would join former conference
member UNLV and Long Beach State as the only schools to finish
the Big West season with a perfect record.
Pacific extended its winning streak to 20 games Thursday with a
92-88 triumph over Cal State-Fullerton. Guiallme Yango scored
23 of his career-high 27 points in the second half for the
Tigers, who hit 57 percent of their shots.
Leading scorer
Christian Maraker was held to six points, but
senior
Jasko Korajkic scored 14 points and
Tyler Newton added 13
off the bench to compensate.
On December 28,
David Doubley scored 18 points and Yango and
Maraker each posted a double-double as Pacific opened conference
play with a 58-45 triumph over UC-Riverside.
Justin Bell scored
10 points for the Highlanders, who shot just 30 percent from
the floor in the loss.
UC-Riverside, which has lost 11 of its last 12 meetings with
Pacific, enters Saturday's game mired in a three-game losing
streak.
The Highlanders are coming off a 70-60 setback against Cal
State-Northridge, falling to 4-13 in conference play. Larry
Cunningham scored 13 points and
Steve Williams added 10 in the
loss.
