UCLA hosts Temple in Preseason NIT

Temple (1-0) at No. 18 UCLA (1-0), 11:00 pm EST

LOS ANGELES (Ticker) -- Aaron Afflalo and Cedric Bozeman again will try to form a solid 1-2 combination when No. 18 UCLA faces Temple in the second round of the Preseason NIT on Thursday.

Afflalo and Bozeman combined to make 9-of-14 shots and score 25 points in the first half of Tuesday's 83-70 victory over New Mexico State in the season opener.

Afflalo scored 16 of his career-high 23 points in the opening 20 minutes and Bozeman finished with 13 in his return to action after suffering season-ending hip injury in January.

Jordan Farmar, who has been bothered by a strained groin, scored 14 of his 18 points in the second half and finished with eight assists for UCLA, which shot 55 percent (33-of-60) from the floor.

Temple coach John Chaney reached two personal milestones in Tuesday's 69-37 triumph over Army. He won his 500th game with the Owls and surpassed Hall of Famer Ray Meyer for 14th place on the all-time Division I victories list with his 725th.

Mardy Collins scored 18 points and Mark Tyndale and Dustin Salisbury added 13 each for Temple, which won despite being outrebounded, 34-22.

The Owls limited the Cadets to 12 points in the first half and 29 percent (12-of-42) shooting from the floor overall while forcing 21 turnovers.
