DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Nick Grant led five players in double figures with 22 points and Drake beat UW-Milwaukee 84-76 Saturday to reach 15 wins for the first time since 1987.
Al Stewart and Klayton Korver scored 14, Ajay Calvin added 13 and Josh Young chipped in with 11 for Drake (15-13). The Bulldogs rallied from 16 point-deficit and are now two victories shy of clinching their first winning season in 20 years.
Drake whittled the Panthers' 16-point lead down to two, 52-50, with a 20-6 run sandwiched between the end of the first half and the start of the second. Young gave the Bulldogs a 66-65 lead with a 3-pointer with 7:41 left, and they never trailed again.
Avery Smith had 33 for UW-Milwaukee (8-20), which has lost six of seven.
Drake slowly pushed their lead to seven at the free throw line, and Young made it 79-70 with a layup with little over 3 minutes left.
Grant sealed the win with a layup with 43 seconds left.
The Panthers put Drake in the bonus 4:34 into the second half, and in the double-bonus five minutes later. The Bulldogs took advantage, hitting 23 free throws after the break.
Drake led by as much as nine early, but UW-Milwaukee went on a 27-2 run late in the first half and took a 10-point lead into the locker room. Smith had 23 points by halftime, including a pair of 3's during a stretch when the Panthers outscored Drake 20-0.
The game looked more like a November matchup than one played with just a week left in the regular season, as the teams combined for 45 turnovers and 49 fouls.
Drake, which went 17-14 in 1986-87, hasn't reached postseason play since earning an NIT berth in 1986.
