CHARLOTTE AMALIE, U.S. Virgin Islands (AP) -- Uka Agbai had 21 points and seven rebounds to lead Boston College to a season-opening 92-67 victory over Appalachian State at the Paradise Jam tournament Saturday.

Craig Smith scored 12 points, and Steve Hailey added 11. Louis Hinnant and Jermaine Watson each added 10. Jared Dudley and Agbai each had seven rebounds.

Derek Thomas finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds for the Mountaineers (0-2). Noah Brown added 11 points.

The Eagles dominated the low post, outscoring the Mountaineers 26-14 in the paint in the first half, and 42-28 for the game.

Boston College broke open a two-point game with a 21-6 run in the first half, extending its lead to 27-14 with 5:06 left in the half. The Eagles were never seriously challenged again.

Boston College coach Al Skinner started substituting with when the Eagles' lead reached 21 points with over eight minutes left.
