LAHAINA, Hawaii (AP) -- Keith Waleskowski had 17 points and 13 rebounds and Dayton dominated inside in an 82-63 victory over Central Michigan on Monday in the opening round of the EA Sports Maui Invitational.

The Flyers (2-0) will play San Diego State, which beat Ohio State 83-61, in Tuesday's semifinals.

In its last appearance in this tournament in 2000, Dayton beat Connecticut in the first round, lost to Arizona in the semifinals and defeated Maryland in the third-place game.

Kevin Nelson had 17 points for the Chippewas (0-1), who sorely missed 7-footer Chris Kaman who left after his junior season for the NBA draft.

All five Dayton starters scored in double figures and the Flyers finished with a 43-31 rebound advantage and blocked seven shots.

Dayton used a 15-0 run to take a 24-8 lead midway through the first half. Central Michigan, which didn't score for 7½ minutes as the Flyers took control, trailed 35-23 at halftime.

Nelson and Robert Sevalia combined for five 3-pointers when the Chippewas made a run to get to 55-49 with 10:04 to play. But Dayton established its inside game again and went on a 13-3 run to go up 68-52 with 6:07 left.

Monty Scott's 3-pointer with 2:52 left gave the Flyers their biggest lead of the game, 76-54.

Sean Finn and Mark Jones each had 13 points for Dayton, which shot 27-for-54 from the field, while Scott and Ramod Marshall each added 11. The Flyers were 20-for-25 from the free-throw line, while the Chippewas were 7-for-8.

Sevalia finished with 10 points for Central Michigan, which shot 34 percent overall (23-for-66), including 10-for-29 from 3-point range.
