Chiles had 13 for the Racers (4-0), who went 37-for-60 from the
field in the game, including 23-of-33 in the second half. Murray
State shot 56 percent (9-of-16) from 3-point range.
Charles Gaines scored 18 and grabbed 11 rebounds for Southern
Mississippi (2-1), which hit only 23 of 62 shots (37 percent),
including 1 of 9 from 3-point range (11 percent).
The Racers led 36-23 at halftime, then pushed the lead over 20
by the midpoint of the second half. Witherspoon's dunk with 30
seconds left gave Murray State its biggest lead, which was the
Murray State outrebounded Southern Mississippi 38-30 and scored
22 points off 19 Eagles' turnovers.
Murray State is 4-0 for just the fifth time in 30 seasons.
