EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) -- Kendrick Fox had 17 points, including
the game-winning 3-pointer, as Mississippi overcame a 13-point
second-half deficit to beat Evansville 69-66 Wednesday night.
Evansville took a 38-25 lead early in the second half on
3-pointers by Robert Nelson and Lucious Wagner, but the Rebels'
shooting caught fire in the second half as Mississippi connected on
15-of-24 field goals (62 percent) and 9-of-13 3-pointers (69
Mississippi took its first lead of the game at 61-60 on a free
throw by Tommie Eddie with 3:39 left, but the Purple Aces erased
that lead a few seconds later when Eddie fouled Matt Webster, who
sank one of two free throws.
A 3-pointer by Harper gave the Rebels the lead again at 64-61
with 2:37 left. Evansville tied it again at 66-66 with 13 seconds
left on a 3 by Cuffle, but Fox answered with a 3-pointer at 0:04
and the Purple Aces were unable to get off another shot.
