Northern Arizona 80, Montana 78 (OT)


MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) -- Kelly Golob drove the lane and scored
with 1.6 seconds left in overtime Saturday to lift Northern Arizona
to an 80-78 victory over Montana, securing a spot in the Big Sky
Conference tournament.

NAU's Chris Ferguson stole the final in-bounds pass, ending
Montana's five-game winning streak.

NAU (14-13, 7-7 league) will finish either second or third in
the regular season standings. Montana (10-17, 6-8), which would
have claimed second with a win, now could finish as low as last
place depending on the outcome of other games. Six of the league's
eight teams entered the last game of the regular season tied for
second place.

Ferguson led Northern Arizona with 16 points and put back a
teammate's miss with 20 seconds remaining in regulation to tie the
score at 74.

Montana's Kamarr Davis had two free throws rattle out with 1.3
seconds left in regulation.

Montana took a 78-74 lead with 3:08 left in overtime on two foul
shots by Davis, a 79 percent free throw shooter.

Ferguson made 2-of-3 free throws with 2:36 left and Golob scored
at the 1:11 mark to tie it at 78, setting up Golob's game-winner.

Adrian Hayes and Aaron Bond both scored 14 points for the
Lumberjacks and Golob finished with 11.

Davis had 25 points and 11 rebounds to lead Montana and made
14-of-19 free throws. Kevin Criswell added 17 points and Roy Booker
had 10.

The Lumberjacks rallied from an 18-12 deficit and led by as much
as 38-28 before the Grizzlies cut it to 40-36 at halftime.

Both teams held five point leads in the second half, NAU at
44-39 with 18:19 to play and Montana at 63-58 with 6:56 to go.
