STOCKTON, Calif. (AP) -- Miah Davis scored 23 points to help
Pacific win its 12th straight game and move into a tie for first in
the Big West with a 78-62 win over Cal-State Fullerton on Thursday
night.
The Tigers (21-7, 16-1) won for the 17th time in 18 games and
can claim at least a share of its first Big West title since 1998
with a win Saturday in its regular-season finale against UC
Riverside. No. 23 Utah State, which is tied for first, finishes its
regular season Friday against Idaho.
Davis added five assists before leaving the game with a left leg
injury with 40 seconds to play.
Guillaume Yango scored 12 points
and
Tyler Newton had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Tigers.
Pape Sow led Fullerton (10-16, 6-11) with 24 points and 13
rebounds.
Yaphett King added 17 points and
Anthony Bolton had 12
for the Titans.
Pacific took command with a 17-0 run late in the first half and
led 45-29 at the break. The Tigers twice stretched their lead to 21
points midway through the second half.
The Titans crept within 70-59 with four minutes remaining after
Bobby Brown's 3-pointer culminated an 11-2 Fullerton run. But Davis
then made two free throws and
David Doubley followed with four
consecutive points as the Tigers cruised to the finish.
