Cats will host America East final


BOSTON (AP) -- T.J. Sorrentine scored 18 points and dished out
five assists and second-seeded Vermont opened the second half with
a 11-0 run to beat sixth-seeded Hartford 61-48 in the semifinals of
the America East tournament Sunday.

The Catamounts advanced to the conference title game for the
second straight season with the win. Vermont (21-8, 15-5 America
East) will shoot for its second straight conference championship
when it hosts Maine next Saturday in the title game.

Down by one at halftime, the Catamounts held Hartford (12-17,
7-13) scoreless for the first 9:10 of the second half and pulled
ahead 38-28 with 12:07 left, as the Hawks missed 11 straight field
goals to start the second half.

Hartford got within 46-41 before Vermont went on a 11-0 run to
go up 57-41 with 1:40 left.

Aaron Cook scored 17 points and Ryan Stys added 12 points to
lead Hartford, which led by as much as 19-11 in the first half but
lost for the 10th straight time in the America East semifinals. The
Hawks have never made it to the title game.

Germain Njila scored 14 points, one shy of a career high, and
David Hehn added 12 points for the Catamounts.
