    Snyder's 22 lead Wolf Pack

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) -- Kirk Snyder had 22 points and nine rebounds Thursday to lead Nevada to a 75-60 victory Thursday over SMU in the quarterfinals of the Western Athletic Conference tournament.

Todd Okeson added 18 points and Nick Fazekas scored 14 for top-seeded Nevada (21-8), which tied Texas-El Paso for the WAC regular-season title. The Wolf Pack will play Rice -- a 70-68 winner over Hawaii -- in Friday's semifinals.

Nevada pulled away midway through the second half thanks to a 16-3 scoring run keyed by Snyder and Fazekas. Okeson's fourth 3-pointer of the game put the Wolf Pack ahead 63-48 with 4:54 remaining.

Bryan Hopkins scored 22 points to lead eighth-seeded SMU (12-18). Hopkins kept the Mustangs close with 16 points in the first half, but he made only one field goal as the Mustangs shot only 26 percent in the second half.

Snyder, the WAC player of the year, scored the game's first four points as Nevada led almost from start to finish. The Mustangs tied the game briefly at 42early in the second half.
