NEW YORK (AP) -- Matt Preston scored 17 points to lead Columbia to a 76-58 victory over Morehead State on Saturday night in the championship game of the Columbia Classic.

Ben Nwachukwu added 10 points and a game-high seven rebounds for the Lions (2-0).

Quinton Smith led the Eagles (1-1) with 20 points, Josh Reed had 13 and Chad McKnight 10.

Preston, the tournament MVP, scored eight points in the first half to help lead the Lions (2-0) to a 41-30 halftime lead. His consecutive 3-pointers gave Columbia a 51-34 lead with 15:24 remaining.

Morehead State held several early leads before Dalen Cuff's 3-pointer broke a 21-21 tie with 9:07 left in the first half, putting the Lions ahead to stay.

Mount St. Mary's defeated Longwood 78-55 in the consolation game.
