ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) -- Dion Harris scored 22 points and Chris
Hunter added 16 to help injury-depleted Michigan beat South Florida
71-62 on Saturday.
Brent Petway and Ron Coleman each had 10 points for the
Wolverines (6-3), who were playing without four players sidelined
Leather -- who sat on the bench for nearly five minutes after
picking up his fourth foul early in the second half -- scored two
straight baskets and hit a free throw to pull the Bulls within
57-53 with 7:23 left.
Michigan went on a 9-1 run, capped by Harris' 3-pointer, to
build its lead to 66-54 with 2:25 remaining.
The Bulls responded with an 8-1 run to close within 67-62 with
17 seconds left. Harris and Hunter sealed the game with two free
throws each in the closing seconds.
There were eight lead changes and one tie in the first half.
South Florida led by as many as five points, and Michigan by as
many as six. The Wolverines led 34-32 at the half.
Michigan dressed only 11 players because of injuries. Backup
guard Dani Wohl was the latest to suffer a sidelining injury when
he hurt his left elbow during practice Thursday. He is out
Abram is out for the season and is scheduled for surgery on his
left shoulder. Brown is recovering from hernia surgery and will be
out at least four weeks. Horton is sidelined one month after
suffering a sprained left knee.
