BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Ronell Taylor scored 18 points and his
twin brother Donell had 17 to lead Alabama-Birmingham to a 100-80
victory over Murray State on Sunday.
Paul Delaney scored 12 points and Marvett McDonald had 11 for
the Blazers (10-3).Darnell Hopkins scored 20 points for Murray State (5-5), while
Shawn Witherspoon and Chuck Johnson each had 14.It was UAB's first win over Murray State in four meetings. The
Racers had been the only school UAB had played at least three times
without beating.The game was tied at 24 when the Taylors combined for 13 points
in a 16-3 run that gave UAB the lead for good.The Blazers led 44-31 at halftime and by as many has 29 points
in the second half.Murray State handled UAB's pressure defense early, but the
Racers eventually wore down and finished with 26 turnovers.
